FORLIS |

Built as Graal i 1956, for German owners, bought by Oddfjell in 1971 and renamed "Ceang". Various ownwers until she was finally bought by Vestfrakting, and used for transport of sand and gravel. Last trip was supposed to be from Høgsfjord to Bergen, but at the late evening 16/8-77, as they were passing Bokn she sailed on the wrong side of a red marker. As a result of running onto the shoals, she tilted over to port and the water flowed into the hold. The hatches were not battened down, making the boat fill with water and sink in a matter of minutes. It was common practise for the sand freighters at that time to sail with stowed hatches, making them able to put a heap on the cargo.Local newspaperclippings (not translated) |

DIVING |

Easy to locate between Knarholmen and the red marker. It is possible to come by car and swim out from the nearby breakwater, but we have always used boat and found the wreck with the echosounder first. Nice, small wreck, not easy to get lost here! We in the hardcore steam engine appreciation group dont't find it very interresting though. |
